Keep Austin Weird: SXSW 2014

Every March, Austin gears up for one of the greatest events in the city– South by Southwest. The week long festival includes film, interactive and music portions that bring thousands of people to our wonderful city.
Whether you are in tech, a movie buff or music fanatic, there are thousands of events and showcases that are held throughout the week at hundreds of venues. Crave Catering has been planning menus months in advance for many of these events, and we hope to catch you at one!
While some events require proper credentials, don’t fret– there are tons of free things festival goers can go to for a great time. Just remember to get there early to avoid long lines!
We wanted to list a couple of things for you to cross off your checklist in order to access free shows, get free delicious food and awesome swag for SXSW 2014. Enjoy!

In past years the free shows featured are normally at Auditorium Shores, but due to construction have been moved to Butler Park. Past artists include The Flaming Lips and The Shins. The line up this year has been posted, and fans will get to enjoy performances by Foster the People and Childish Gambino. Make sure to check out Do512 for a complete list of everything going on. Many of the events are managed through their RSVP system, so be sure to head over there and check them out.
Don’t forget about the power of social media during SXSW. Using Twitter and Facebook for updates on the festival is a must-do. You might even catch wind of a secret show at a venue near you! (Happens all the time at SXSW!)
